Behind the Craft - Aesops Fables - Goose and the Golden Egg

Believed to originate in ancient Greece, today Aesop’s Fables are captured in entertaining books accompanied by bright illustrations that bring the stories to life and fascinate young children.

Our Aesop’s Fables Collection follows that tradition, building over time to include six beautifully illustrated coins by Heena Raj. The series continues with the tale of a lazy farmer called Atticus Greeb, whose goose laid an egg of pure gold. Hoping to get all the gold at once Atticus kills the goose, but he found nothing inside and was left empty-handed. The moral of the story is:

‘be thankful for what you’ve got’

Stories

Aesops Fables

Aesop’s Fables is a collection of short morality tales believed to have originally been told by Aesop, a slave and storyteller who lived in ancient Greece. His story is so ancient that the facts about his life are unclear, but the simple truths of his fables have been passed on through the centuries, timeless tales still read and enjoyed all over the world to this day

Many of the stories feature animals and inanimate objects that speak, solve problems and have human characteristics, a magical approach to storytelling that gives them a universal appeal across generations and nations.
The human truths of Aesop’s Fables have been passed down from generation to generation, either read aloud or told in books with entertaining illustrations that bring the stories to life. This combination of simple stories and visual storytelling makes Aesop’s Fables an ideal theme for coin design, which itself has been used to tell stories for centuries.

Every detail of Heena’s exclusive design is captured by our finest Proof quality finish and the latest colour printing techniques, creating a presentation which will prove magical to collectors young and old alike.

This stunning silver Proof-quality coin is presented in a clear acrylic case, meaning it can be safely displayed and enjoyed on a bedside cabinet or bookshelf for generations to come.
