Breakfast Tea
Full bodied, robust, rich and perfect with a dash of milk and sugar is the perfect and traditional requirement for an English Breakfast tea. Often a secret blend of Kenyan, Indian and Sri Lankan teas, it became part of the very fabric of British and Irish life.
It was too good to keep a secret and it’s now drunk all over the world, sometimes with milk, often without particularly in Europe. Ironically, it is said that it was an American tea merchant who first coined the phrase “English” Breakfast.
Naturally, our Tea Master wanted to find something different and better: our version of an English Breakfast is called Royal Breakfast – in honour of the time when East India officers presented two pounds of black tea to King Charles II, which delighted his Portuguese wife Catherine of Braganza so much that she introduced tea in court and thus started the long tradition and love of tea in Britain.
