Jasmine Tea

Heady-scented Jasmine flowers have been used to flavour tea in China for over 1500 years and jasmine tea is now one of the most popular green tea’s around the world.

When fresh jasmine flowers finally blossom in late summer, they are picked early in the day when the petals are closed, then laid with the tea leaves overnight, the latter absorbing the fragrance and flavour. This process is repeated many times for the finest jasmine green teas.
Traditional Chinese medicine recommends this tea to aid digestion, and relaxation, but it’s also more simply offered to guests as a welcome gesture. One of our favourites are Jasmine Pearls, a popular and much sought after variety, where the scented whole green leaves are hand-rolled into delicate pearls, which then unfurl dramatically during brewing.
