Fragrant and vibrantly coloured, Hibiscus flowers have long been a popular ingredient in food and beverages because of their potential health benefits. Originating in sub-tropical regions throughout the world, it is thought that The East India Company first encountered the flowering plant in Hawaii whilst navigating the South Pacific.

We use Hibiscus in our Tropical Punch, a thirst-quenching infusion of tropical fruits, white tea, rosehip and orange peel. Our Hibiscus cordial infuses exotic Hawaiian hibiscus, poppy and rose and has been specially crafted for cocktails, spritzers, dessert sauces, fruit salads and pancakes. Deliciously fruity with a striking reddish tint, the flavour of hibiscus is as uplifting as an island breeze.

The ‘Tiger of Mysore’ was the nickname for Tip

The ‘Tiger of Mysore’ was the nickname for Tipu Sultan, the warrior like ruler of Mysore who challenged the might of The East India Company for over a decade and became renowned for his administrative innovations which led to the growth of the Mysore silk industry.

Our Tiger Of Mysore Mocha Coffee is named in honour of Tipu, who was defeated in the Battle of Srirangaptna in 1799. A blend of two of the world's oldest coffees, Ethiopian and Indian, which creates a lightly-bodied, slightly smoky medium roast with hints of cinnamon and grape.

At its height, Ceylon was one of the biggest coffee producers in the world.

The East India Company exported millions of pounds every year until the arrival of ‘coffee rust’, a fungus that specifically grows on coffee leaves which weakens the coffee plants and eventually kills them.

Our superb 'Sir Anthony Oliphant's Ceylon Black Tea' is named after the man who had the vision to seize the opportunity of growing an alternative crop, which ended up becoming Ceylon's greatest export.

Gerald Aungier became the President of the East In

Gerald Aungier became the President of the East India Company in India, Persia and Arabia in 1699.

Credited with establishing the first mint, constituting the first courts of law, importing the first printing press and fortifying the city’s defences by constructing the Bombay Castle, perhaps Governor Aungier’s greatest achievement was in attracting Muslim, Hindu and Parsi artisans and traders from the mainland to Bombay.

The cosmopolitan nature of the city was set and our Governor Aungier’s Bombay Chai Black Tea, which blends together a vibrant variety of spices, honours the vibrancy of Bombay, and its second Governor.

Matcha – The green sensation.

Matcha dates back nearly 1000 years to a time when dynasties ruled China and Shogun clans ruled Japan. The name is an amalgamation of two Japanese terms: 'Ma' which means 'ground' or 'powdered' and 'Cha', which means Tea.

It is said that Eisai, a Japanese Zen Buddhist monk, first brought the secrets of powdered tea from China to Japan in 1191 where it became it hugely popular as part of the ritualistic tea ceremony.

Today, our matcha comes from the famous garden of Yoshiaki Hattori-san, grown chemical free, using only time-honoured methods.

Our ceremonial quality matcha can be made traditionally to super charge your day, or to create a vibrant, tasty latte. Have you tried matcha? For health, taste or both?
