Tea
Where to start in talking about tea?
With the legend of Shen Nung the Chinese Emperor who just happened to discover, 5 millennia ago, that a tea leaf in hot water tasted quite nice? With the Portuguese, who first brought tea to Europe 500 years ago? With the British, who made it famous in the west, and who now drink in excess of 100 million cups a day, mostly black tea with a splash.
Or perhaps let’s mention all the cups of tea that are not really tea at all: the world of infusions, roots, herbs, fruits that are now so important in particular with the younger generation, looking for the most healthy options, who know their catechins from their curcumin, but also demand great taste too. And topically, perhaps an added vitamin or two to boost their immune system.
Tea is such an important part of so many cultures and lives around the world, playing a pivotal role in family, community, business or just over story telling. There is so much to chose from, it is hard to know where to look sometimes, what choices to make. The East India Company’s Tea Master is on hand to help, and has curated a range to meet many occasions and needs. Join us in exploring the world of tea; there’ll be something new for the curious every time you look.
