SKU: FGCN11122 Categories: , ,

Renowned for its sharp and vibrant flavour, the Seville orange is the arguably the finest marmalade fruit of all. Slather our bittersweet Fine Cut Seville Orange Marmalade on freshly baked scones.

Marmalade on toast may well seem ordinary. But behind it lies the tale of an exchange, a fusion of cultures, tastes and the finer things in life. The officers at The East India Company set sail with traditions from home. So whilst India introduced them to sublimely soft paisley shawls and the somewhat punchier tradition of punch, it was deliciously bitter marmalade that the British brought to India. And it’s still enjoyed today, from London all the way to Bombay.

Flavour Profile

A well-set light, Seville orange, fine cut marmalade with a tangy citrus flavour. From the 18th century onwards, a true marmalade became synonymous with citrus fruits, particularly the bitter Seville orange. Marmalade was one of the many delicious treats that The East India Company used for breakfasts on voyages and later shared with the rest of the world whereupon orange marmalade also became a staple of the Indian breakfast.
